The MAX3221C, MAX3222C and MAX3223C are an achieve 1µA supply current with Maxims revolutionary Auto Shutdown™ feature. When those devices are do not sense a valid signal level on their receiver inputs, the onboard power supply and drivers shut down. This occurs if the RS232 cable is disconnected or if the transmitters of the connected peripheral are turned off.
