MPU9250 9-Axis IMU Module: Gyro, Accelerometer and Compass in One Board
The MPU9250 is a compact 9-axis motion tracking module that combines a 3-axis gyroscope, a 3-axis accelerometer and a 3-axis magnetometer (AK8963 compass). It gives 16-bit digital output, so your Arduino, ESP32 or ESP8266 can measure tilt, rotation, heading and movement accurately. It is a popular choice for EEE, CSE and Mechatronics students in Bangladesh building drones, gimbals, self-balancing robots, navigation and gesture control projects.
Key Features
- 9-axis motion sensing (3-axis gyro + 3-axis accelerometer + 3-axis magnetometer)
- 16-bit ADC for each axis, high resolution output
- Selectable gyro range: ±250, ±500, ±1000, ±2000 °/s
- Selectable accelerometer range: ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, ±16g
- Magnetometer range: ±4800 µT, for compass heading
- I2C and SPI interface support
- Works with Arduino Uno, Nano, Mega, ESP32, ESP8266 and Raspberry Pi
- Low power, small size, good for wearable and flight controller builds
- Breadboard and jumper-wire friendly

Important Usage Note
MPU9250 is a 3.3V logic chip. Most GY-9250 boards have an onboard regulator for 5V power, but for ESP32/ESP8266 use 3.3V logic and for Arduino Uno use a level shifter or keep I2C pull-ups at 3.3V for long-term safety. Its WHO_AM_I ID (0x71) differs from MPU6050, so use an MPU9250 compatible library such as MPU9250_WE or Bolder Flight MPU9250. Calibrate the magnetometer away from motors and magnets for accurate heading.
